Part 1 — Get Your Free Developer Org

Takes 5 minutes — completely free, no credit card needed

A Salesforce Developer Org is a free, full-featured Salesforce environment for building and testing. It includes Agentforce, Einstein AI, and all major Salesforce features — at zero cost. It's what every Salesforce developer uses to learn and prototype.
1
Sign Up for a Developer Org
Free — no credit card — takes 2 minutes
a
Open your browser and go to: developer.salesforce.com/signup
b
Fill in the form:
First Name: Your name (e.g., Anant)
Last Name: Your last name
Email: Use Gmail or work email (this becomes your login)
Role: Select "Developer"
Company: Type "XYZ Company" (matches our course!)
Country: India
Postal Code: Your pincode
Username: Must be unique globally — use format: yourname.agentforce2026@xyzcompany.dev
c
Click "Sign Me Up". You'll see "Thanks! We'll be in touch soon."
d
Check your email within 2-5 minutes. Click "Verify Account" in the email from Salesforce.
e
Set your password on the verification page. Save it! Password rules: 8+ chars, 1 uppercase, 1 number, 1 special character.
developer.salesforce.com/signup → Fill form → Verify email → Set password
๐Ÿ“ธ What You Should See After Login
The Salesforce home screen with the App Launcher (9 dots) in the top-left. The URL should be something like: https://[your-org].develop.lightning.force.com/lightning/page/home

If you see a Lightning UI with a Sales app — you're in! ✅
✅ Dev Org Created!
Bookmark your login URL. You'll use this URL for every module in this course. Also save your username (it's NOT your email — it's the unique username you chose like yourname.agentforce2026@xyzcompany.dev).
2
Enable Einstein Generative AI
The master switch for all AI features including Agentforce
a
Click the ⚙️ gear icon (top right) → Click Setup
b
In the Quick Find box (left sidebar), type: Einstein Generative AI
c
Click Einstein Generative AI in the results under Einstein section
d
You'll see a toggle. Click it to turn it ON (it turns blue/green)
e
A confirmation dialog may appear — click Enable
f
Page refreshes. You should see "Einstein Generative AI: Enabled"
⚙️ Setup → Quick Find: "Einstein Generative AI" → Toggle ON → Save
๐Ÿ“ธ What You Should See
A settings page with the heading "Einstein Generative AI". A toggle switch that you've turned ON (shows in green/blue). Below it shows model preferences and additional options. Status shows "Enabled" ✅
⚠️ Don't See Einstein Generative AI?
If you can't find it: try searching "Generative" instead. If still not found, your Dev Org may need to be refreshed. Log out → Log back in → Try again. If still missing, create a new Dev Org at developer.salesforce.com/signup — sometimes the first signup takes time to provision all features.
3
Enable Agentforce
Turn on the Agentforce platform specifically
a
In Setup Quick Find, type: Agents
b
Click Agents under the Einstein section
c
You should see the Agents page with a "New Agent" button. If you see this page — Agentforce is available! ✅
d
If you see a message "Agentforce is not enabled" — look for an Enable Agentforce button on the page and click it.
e
Also search for "Copilot" in Quick Find → Enable Einstein Copilot if prompted (this also enables Agent infrastructure)
Setup → Quick Find: "Agents" → Confirm Agents page shows → New Agent button visible
๐Ÿ“ธ What You Should See
The "Agents" page in Setup with a list (empty for now) and a blue "New Agent" button in the top right. Below that, you may see a default "Einstein" agent already created. This confirms Agentforce is ready. ✅
4
Configure Einstein Trust Layer
Security settings from Module 2 — quick configuration
a
Quick Find → type: Einstein Trust → Click Einstein Trust Layer
b
Click Data Masking tab → Verify all PII types are Enabled (green)
c
Click Audit Trail tab → Enable Log AI Interactions toggle → Set retention: 30 days → Save
d
Click Toxicity tab → Set all categories to Medium (good starting point for Dev Org) → Save
Setup → Einstein Trust Layer → Enable Data Masking + Audit Trail + Toxicity → Save
๐Ÿ“ธ Trust Layer Checklist
✅ Data Masking: All PII types toggled ON
✅ Audit Trail: Enabled, 30-day retention
✅ Toxicity: Medium threshold for all categories

If any toggle is greyed out, try refreshing the page. These settings take effect immediately — no deployment needed.
5

a
Quick Find → type: Prompt Builder → Click Prompt Builder
b
If you see a page with "New Prompt Template" button — it's already enabled ✅

Setup → Quick Find: "Prompt Builder" → Confirm enabled → New Prompt Template button visible
๐Ÿ“ธ What You Should See

6
Set Up Required Permissions
Ensure your user has all permissions to build and test agents
In your Dev Org, your user is System Administrator — so most permissions are already granted. But Agentforce requires a few specific permissions that need to be explicitly enabled.
a
Quick Find → Users → Click your username
b
Scroll down to Permission Set Assignments → Click Edit Assignments
c
Add these Permission Sets (if available in your org):
Einstein Copilot for Salesforce
Prompt Template User
Agentforce for Salesforce
d
Click Save
e
Also verify: Setup → Users → Your user → System Administrator profile is assigned ✅
Setup → Users → Your User → Permission Set Assignments → Add Agentforce PSets → Save
๐Ÿ’ก Note on Permission Sets
Not all Permission Sets may be available in every Dev Org version. Add whatever is available. As a System Administrator, you already have broad access. The specific PSets become more important in production orgs with restricted users.
7
Enable Additional Required Features
A few more settings needed for later modules

Part 2 — Create XYZ Company Sample Data

The data our Sales Assistant Agent will work with throughout the course

⚠️ Something Not Working?
Agents page shows "Feature not available": Log out and log back in. Wait 10 minutes after enabling Einstein Generative AI — it sometimes takes time to propagate.

Can't find Prompt Builder: Try searching "Prompt" in Quick Find. Also check if Einstein is fully enabled in Setup → Company Information → Add-Ons.

Still stuck: Create a brand new Dev Org — some older Dev Orgs don't have Agentforce provisioned. The latest Dev Orgs (2025-2026 signups) all have it.

Quick Verification Test — Is Agentforce Really Ready?

One final test to confirm everything is working before Module 4

Let's do a quick test to confirm Agentforce is truly enabled in your org. This isn't building an agent — just verifying the infrastructure is in place.
1
Go to Setup → Agents
2
Click New Agent button
3
You should see a modal/page asking you to choose an agent type (Service Agent, Sales Agent, Custom, etc.)
4
DON'T create the agent yet — just verify this screen appears. Click Cancel
✅ Everything is Ready!
You see a "New Agent" modal with agent type options. Agent Builder opens. This confirms Agentforce is fully provisioned in your Dev Org. You're ready for Module 4!
❌ Something is Wrong
Button is greyed out, error appears, or page doesn't load. Fix: Enable Einstein Generative AI first (Step 2), wait 10 minutes, then try again. If still failing — create a fresh Dev Org.
